Melissa Connell

Melissa’s performed in various theatrical, commercial, industrial, film and voice over productions throughout the Northeast.

Recent theater roles include playing “Lena” in the world premier play Gary, “Bridget” in The King of East Jabip and “Emma Parker” in Bonnie & Clyde with The Eagle Theatre Company, “Melissa” in Journey into Broadway, at The Kelsey Theatre, “Joyce” in Spy House at The Ritz Theatre. “Annie Sullivan” in The Miracle Worker with MainStage Center for the Arts and “Pamela”/”Annabella”/”Margaret” in The 39 Steps both at The Broadway, Theatre of Pitman and The Grand Theatre Company.

Other theater productions: Teach Your Children with Tall Grass Productions, a provocative and edgy drama in which she played four roles that ranged in age from 17-45,  “Maggie” in The Shadow Box with Center City Theatre Works, “Mary” in Coolers with Imagination Creation, “Claire” in Proof with Act Out Theatre Company, “Cordelia” in Taking Leave with Theatre Catalyst; “Mary” in US Drag with Flashpoint Theatre Company, “Blossom” in Neighbors and “Feliz” in Safe with Philly’s Inspira Theater Company, and “Shelby” in Steel Magnolias with the Lion Theater Company.

Melissa has acted in commercials for such organizations as Susquehanna Bank, Channel 6 Action News, E. P. Henry, Sovereign Bank, Shore Memorial Hospital, Time Warner Cable, Salad Works, Curel, Rite Aid, Pinnacle Health, Dow Chemical, Comcast Cable, Thom McAn, QVC, Car Sense, Volkswagen and Motorola. Other television credits include: Haunted New York for the History Channel, Comedy Central’s Strangers with Candy, ABC’s One Life to Live, and HBO’s Sex and the City.

Some voice over jobs include: Salad Works, Don’s Food Services, Hatfield Ham, Crayola, NJ Lottery, PA Lottery, PA Tourism, The Palm Restaurant, Colgate and Rowan University.

Recently Melissa played “Mama” in the internationally and nationally award-winning independent film Bathroom Troll, wrapped production playing “Joyce” in the short film Control and just this past Fall acted as “Lilith” in The Dark State playing opposite American Idol finalist and Broadway star Constantine Maroulis.”

Melissa co-starred in the film AKA. The kooky comedy took home “Best Film” at the NY Independent Film and Video Festival.

Melissa started studying voice about ten years ago with the wonderful, supportive and talented Jeffrey Lesser. Eight years ago she performed in her first solo cabaret show.

Also, a national award winning radio documentary producer, Melissa’s radio documentary “Tobacco: Filtering out the Truth” won 1st place from the Philadelphia Press organization and the National Headliners group.

She is also a private acting coach who specializes in scene study, monologues and commercials for kids, teens and adults. Currently accepting new students 🙂

She received her BA in Radio/TV/Film and her MA in Public Relations from Rowan University. Melissa also serves as an actor, writer, client care manager, facilitator and phone survey specialist for True To Life Training in Central New Jersey.

Melissa resides in NJ with her two children, Ella and Dominic, along with their crazy Labradoodle Ginger.
